I’m 5’9, 18 years old with a 38 inch vertical, just wondering what ‘some’ people mean when they say that you need “genetic luck” to have better results when trying to increase your vertical jump.

Genetics do play a role but hard work and training can bridge the gap. Even normal people can jump really high if they train the right away. I am not really athletic but I increased my vertical from 27 inches to 25 using “the jump manual”. you can get more info about it herehttp://ruddo.com/go/thejumpmanual.php

Some people are born with a higher percentage of type 2B muscles fibers then others. Type 2b muscle fibers are responsible for explosive movements (jumping, sprinting) The more type 2b muscle fibers you have the high you will jump.
